Photographer Natasha Wilson had this idea where she wanted to use bodies to create abstract shapes through movement, and the way to execute defined shapes to her was by painting the bodies different colors so that the viewer can focus on the abstract spacing vs the human body itself. She brainstormed for a while, coming to the conclusion that painting the bodies on set would be super messy and actually require more clean up in post than if she just painted the bodies in photoshop after shooting it. She is super happy that I constructed it this way, as it allowed her the flexibility to shift colors and hues per image, so that she could pick exactly what colors she thought looked best side by side. Although it was very time consuming, spending about 3-4 hours per image hand painting each limb, it was meditative and almost therapeutic, like a digital coloring book for her editing process. Natasha would love to create something with a similar process in the future.
