FREEFORMS #2

Swiss artist Maria Piessis's Freeform series is a personal body of work that began with experimenting with origami papers to create self-standing sculptures. In photographing these pieces, Maria aims to play with scale, challenging the viewer's perception of size. Both micro and macro in size, Maria played with a lot of these forms. She then eventually found the perfect coloured and reflective paper that gave her the color delight she was looking for. After exploring hundreds of different forms, she is thrilled with this selection, now exclusive to Artstar, as it truly represents simple things that hold significant meaning for her creatively. The process of making something out of relatively nothing is what she loves most. Additional works have emerged from this original body of work, and to this day, Maria continues to photograph these small forms as part of her creative practice.
