Astro New Years by Cameron Burns
Q: Why did you choose the pieces by Tropico Photo, Cameron Burns and Natasha Martin?
Candace:
All of these pieces really spoke to me for different reasons! I wanted the loft to feel laid back, effortlessly cool, and playful. While the pieces I chose all have different personalities, they worked together seamlessly to set the tone for the space. The colors in the Tropico photo really brought the bedroom alive and became the focal point for the space. I knew right away the Cameron Burns piece would live in the dining space, great art sparks conversation and I knew this would be the perfect piece to gather people around the dining area and leave an impression! I love the moodiness of that piece. Natasha Martin's Piece was the perfect choice to ground the kitchen space and bring some vibrancy, I also love that it drops some subtle hints of "thank you" for staying with us.
Q: When designing this Airbnb, did you begin with the art or the furniture?
Candace:
Because the airbnb design was centered on creating an experience, starting with the artwork was a must. It really helped me set the tone for the furnishings and the overall aesthetic. Art was a huge piece of the puzzle in capturing the overall feel of the airbnb.
Q: What role does art play in the home?
Candace:
Art plays a huge role in our home. Being my own client was tricky but the foundation for all of our projects is focusing on how you want the space to make you feel, artwork is really the driving force for showcasing our personality of the home and things we love. We love music, photography and pieces that make us feel something and spark conversation. We really try to be intentional about the pieces throughout our home.
Q: How would you describe your style?
Candace:
Inviting, layered and I'm a huge fan of symmetry . I love playing with texture, pops of color and making sure the personality of the space shines through. I truly love creating spaces that make people feel good.
