5 Minimalist Holiday Decorating Tips with Designer Ross Cassidy
Less is more. You can forego ornaments and stick to fresh pine or magnolia garland festooned with white twinkle lights. Masses of living green garland is my favorite Christmas decoration. If you don’t have room for a tree plenty of twinkling garland is just as festive.
Keep it classical. Don’t match your ornament color scheme to you interior. Stick to the original green and red.
Size counts. Avoid massive bows, ribbons and anything oversized. Christmas decor can easily overwhelm a room so it’s important that the components you use are as delicate, refined and convey a sense of fragility. A good rule is that decorations should be precious rather than bombastic.
Banish seasonal holiday scented candles. Your tree is the only thing that should smell of pine.
Blue LED & Multicolored twinkle lights are not your friend! Stick to the warm amber variety. Your tree should not look like a disco in the 70’s or an operating room.
